Bookmarks, Safe Spots & Travel Marks
Bookmarks save locations in space. They are used for safe spots, gate perches, instant-dock/undock locations, wormhole entrances, tactical positions, and repeated work sites.
A normal station or gate bookmark saves a known object location, but bookmarks can also be created while you are in warp or positioned away from obvious celestial objects. Those off-grid or mid-space locations are commonly used as safe spots. Tactical bookmarks around gates can let you look at a gate before committing to it. Docking and undocking bookmarks can reduce time exposed near busy stations. Good bookmark naming matters because a folder full of unnamed locations becomes useless quickly. Shared corporation bookmarks may also have rules about naming, expiry, and who should remove old marks.
New Pilot Guidance
A safe spot is safer, not perfectly safe. Combat probes can find many ships in space. Keep moving when appropriate, use d-scan to watch for probes, and never assume a bookmark makes you invulnerable.
