Planetary Industry (PI) Basics

EVE New Player KnowledgePublicUpdated 2026-08-24 11:04:18
Quick Answer

Planetary Industry extracts and processes resources on planets through command centers, extractor heads, processors, storage, and launch facilities.

PI is a mostly passive production chain, but the setup matters. You place a command center, route extracted resources through storage or launch facilities, and use processors to turn lower-tier planetary materials into higher-tier products. Routes and storage capacity must be configured correctly or materials can stop moving. Extraction programs also need to be restarted periodically. Tax rates, planet type, system security, and hauling all affect profitability and convenience.

New Pilot Guidance

Start with one or two planets and learn how routes work before building a large network. If material is not appearing where expected, check the route from extractor to storage and from storage to processors. Search for the specific P0/P1/P2 material chain you are trying to make.
