Hacking Relic and Data Containers

EVE New Player KnowledgePublicUpdated 2026-08-24 11:04:18
Quick Answer

After you scan a relic or data site, approach a container, activate the correct analyzer, and complete the hacking minigame by finding and destroying the system core.

The hacking board is a network of nodes. Your goal is to reveal a path to the system core while preserving enough virus coherence and strength to defeat defenses. Utilities can help repair your virus or weaken defensive nodes. Avoid fighting every defensive node just because it appears; exploration hacking is partly about choosing efficient paths. If the hack fails, the container may allow another attempt, but repeated failures can destroy the container depending on the site. Keep your ship moving, keep d-scan available, and be ready to warp if another pilot appears.

Relic Analyzer and Data Analyzer are different modules. Fit the one required for the site type, or both while learning. The loot is inside the container only after the hack succeeds, so make sure your cargo has room and do not let the minigame distract you from danger around your ship.
