Exploration, Relic Sites & Data Sites
Exploration uses probe scanning to find cosmic signatures, then analyzers to hack relic or data containers for loot. It is one of the easiest careers to begin with a small inexpensive frigate.
Open the Probe Scanner, scan cosmic signatures, and identify the site type after you resolve it. Relic sites normally use a Relic Analyzer; data sites normally use a Data Analyzer. When you enter a site, stay aware of local, d-scan, and escape options. In low-sec, null-sec, and wormholes there is no CONCORD protection, and exploration ships are attractive targets because they are often lightly tanked. Bookmark useful locations and wormholes, avoid carrying more loot than you can afford to lose, and learn which site names can contain NPC combat before assuming every signature is safe.
New Pilot Guidance
For a first exploration ship, use one of the empire exploration frigates and keep the fit cheap. You will lose ships while learning, and that is normal in EVE. Practice scanning in high-sec before moving into dangerous space. Once scanning feels comfortable, learn safe spots, d-scan, gate camps, bubbles, and wormhole behavior.
