How to Use the Discord HelpBot

Quick Answer

Use the configured Discord HelpBot command to search role-safe CMS Help articles. If the bot feature is unavailable, use Search CMS or the Help Center.

The Discord HelpBot lets you search the CMS Help Desk from Discord without logging into the website first.

Current commands:

/help start
Shows recommended help articles based on your Discord role access.

/help search query:discord
Searches CMS Help Desk articles visible to your role.

/help article slug:how-to-link-discord-to-the-cms
Opens a specific article by slug.

Important safety note:
The HelpBot does not let users pick Council or CEO access. It checks your Discord roles and only asks the CMS for articles your role should be able to see.

What the HelpBot can do right now:
- Search Help Desk articles
- Show starter articles
- Link you to the full CMS article
- Show source links when the article has public/member-visible sources

What the HelpBot does not do yet:
- It does not use AI yet
- It does not create tickets yet
- It does not approve applications
- It does not change website roles
- It does not send EVEmail
- It does not run admin actions

If the HelpBot cannot find an answer, ask Council or staff and the answer can be added to the Help Desk later.

New Pilot Guidance

The bot should only show Help your role is allowed to read. It is another way to search the same documentation, not a separate rulebook.

Trusted external resources

Still need help? Use the header search for CMS pages, local Help, EVE topics, and trusted outside learning resources. If the topic is missing, contact staff so it can be added to Help coverage.
